I recently listened to a recording of Sterling Hill. She said that those with COMT SNPs should avoid supplementing with ascorbic acid and rely on natural food sources for Vitamin C. Does anyone know why she said to avoid ascorbic acid?

No one ever said those with COMT should not have ascorbic acid but those with hyperoxaluria should not have ascorbic acid. Also should be avoided if you are G6PD deficient or have elevated ferritin.

    Sterling and Team,
Thank you for helping me sort out the use of ascorbic acid with SNPs such as COMT and G6PD. What is the best way to assess for G6PD deficiency? Would I simply look at Sterlings app for mutations in the G6PD family or is there a serum test you recommend?

    Many Thanks,
