COMT V158M/H62H is responsible for breaking down catecholamines. It plays a huge role in fight or flight.
When someone is wild type meaning -/- they usually metabolize their catecholamines too fast when epigenetically expressing. This in turn can cause major depressive events.

When someone is heterozygous, +/- for COMT V158M/H62H, they usually have perfect metabolism of their catecholamines unless something else is going on.

When someone is homozygous for COMT V158M/H62H +/+ they can only break down about 15% of their catecholamines including dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine. This can become very problematic especially if they are taking an overload of methylated supplements. Basically someone who is homozygous here should only take 15% of the recommended daily dosage of methyl donors or they could easily be a walking panic attack, stay in fight or flight and end up with elevated cortisol levels and vagal nerve issues.
